About

Alvaro Maury with one of his stained glass paintings

Based in Hillsborough, North Carolina, Alvaro Maury creates unique works through stained glass painting and screen printing on glass. His expertise developed under the direction of world-renowned artists including Diego Tolomelli (IKO Studio, Italy), Luis Gianera (Gianera Studio, Argentina), and James Cockerill (HALTglass Studio, England).

One of Alvaro's early works was the creation of several stained glass panels for the Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios Beijing. Other commissions include fireplace screens with stained glass, religious glass panels and restorations, painted panels with backlight, and screen-printed portraits of people and pets.

Before turning to glass art, Alvaro had a long career in semiconductor research and development — a background that deepened his interest in connecting the science of physics and chemistry with artistic expression.

Alvaro is a member of the American Glass Guild.
